The Bluffton Family YMCA is seeking Counselors to join our team for summer programming.
We are looking for Youth Development professionals who are interested in creating a positive, nurturing relationship with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall camp experience.

Camp Details

Summer Camp runs Monday – Friday, from 9:00 am – 4 pm daily. Our season will begin June 2, and will end August 22, 2025. Ages for day camp; 6-12 years of age.

Pay rate (based on experience and job function:

• Counselors $10.70 per hour (varies with education)

Counselor Job Description:

Camp staffs work the full summer. Each weekday, camp staffs work a 6-8 hour shift, depending on camp enrollment and field trip and swimming schedules.

Staff members lead required enrichment activities such as Arts, Health and Wellness, STEM activities, sports, literacy, and lead camp songs/skits. Camp staff also lead field trips and trips to the pool. Camp staffs are required to actively swim with Y campers during free swim and to assist Y swim instructors during swim lessons.

All majors encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include supervision of children, implementation of daily activities in curriculum, and communication with parents. All staff members receive Child Abuse / communicable Disease training and CPR certification. Pre-camp training is mandatory and will occur in the second half of May. At camp, our Summer Camp Staff help campers gain a sense of achievement, relationships, and belonging.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 18 years of age upon date of hire
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Attend certification courses in CPR and First Aid after hiring
• Responsible, punctual, creative, and organized
• Great communicator
• Child care or camp experience preferred
• Reliable transportation to attend work
